Psalms of David - Modern Translation - Psalm 2

Why do nations stir in restlessness,
and people plot in vain?

Earthly rulers rise up,
seeking their own way instead of God's truth.

But God, who reigns in heaven, is unshaken,
His love and purpose stand forever.

He has chosen His anointed one, saying:
"I have set My chosen king upon My holy mountain."

Let me proclaim what God has declared:
"You are My child; today I have embraced you.

Ask of Me, and I will bless you abundantly,
guiding you to spread My light to the ends of the earth."

So be wise, all who lead and follow,
seek God with humble hearts.

Serve the Lord with awe and joy,
for His love is a refuge to all who trust in Him.

Blessed are those who take shelter in God's unfailing care!
