Save me, O God,
for the waters have risen to my neck.
I sink into the deep mire,
and there is no firm ground beneath me.
I am weary from calling for help;
my throat is parched with thirst.
My eyes fail as I wait for my God.
Those who hate me without cause
are too many to count;
they seek to harm me,
though I have done no wrong.
Yet, O Lord, You know my heart,
You see all my struggles.
May those who seek You
not be discouraged
because of my hardships,
O God of hope.
I endure shame for Your sake;
the weight of mockery falls upon me.
I am scorned even by my own,
and strangers turn away from me.
But I lift my voice in prayer to You, O Lord.
In Your great love, answer me;
in Your mercy, rescue me.
Draw near to my soul and redeem me;
in Your kindness, deliver me.
I will praise Your name with song;
I will magnify You with thanksgiving.
For You hear the cries of the humble,
and You do not turn away those in need.
Let heaven and earth praise Him,
the seas and all that moves within them.
For God will bring restoration,
and those who love Him will dwell secure.
