Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name,
make known His deeds among the people!
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him,
tell of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the Lord and His strength;
seek His presence always.
Remember the marvelous things He has done,
His wonders and the wisdom He has spoken.
O followers of Israel, His chosen ones,
children of Jacob, His beloved!
He is the Lord our God;
His justice fills all the earth.
He remembers His covenant forever,
the word He commanded through all time,
the promise He made to Abraham,
His oath to Isaac,
which He confirmed to Jacob as a decree,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
“To you I give the land of promise,
your inheritance to dwell in.”
Though they were few in number,
strangers in the land,
wandering from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another,
He let no one oppress them;
He rebuked kings for their sake:
"Do not touch My anointed ones,
do no harm to My prophets."
He called for a famine upon the land,
cutting off their supply of bread.
Yet He sent a man ahead of them—
Joseph, sold as a servant.
They bound his feet with chains,
his neck with iron,
until the time His word was fulfilled,
and the Lord’s promise proved him true.
The king sent and released him;
the ruler of nations set him free.
He made him master of his household,
ruler over all he possessed,
to guide his princes with wisdom,
and instruct his elders in knowledge.
Then Israel came to Egypt,
Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
The Lord made His people flourish,
stronger than their oppressors.
He turned the hearts of their captors against them,
so they dealt with them harshly.
He sent His servant Moses,
and Aaron, whom He had chosen.
They performed His signs among them,
His wonders in the land of Egypt.
He sent darkness, and the land grew still,
for they had resisted His word.
He turned their waters into blood,
causing their fish to perish.
Frogs swarmed in their chambers,
even in the rooms of their rulers.
He spoke, and swarms of flies came,
gnats filled their land.
He gave them hail instead of rain,
flaming fire upon their fields.
He struck down their vines and fig trees,
shattered the trees of their land.
He spoke, and locusts came,
grasshoppers beyond counting.
They devoured every green thing,
all the produce of the soil.
Then He struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
the first fruits of their strength.
He led His people out with silver and gold,
and none among them stumbled.
Egypt was glad when they departed,
for terror had fallen upon them.
He spread a cloud as their covering,
and fire to give light at night.
They asked, and He sent quail;
He satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
He opened the rock, and water gushed forth,
flowing like a river through the desert.
For He remembered His holy promise,
His word to Abraham, His servant.
He brought His people out with joy,
His chosen ones with singing.
He gave them the lands of the nations,
so they might inherit the fruit of others' labor,
that they might keep His ways
and walk in His wisdom.
Hallelujah!
