Psalms of David - Modern Translation - Psalm 64

Hear me, O God, as I voice my concern;
protect my life from fear and trouble.

Hide me from those who stir up harm,
from those who plot injustice in secret.

They sharpen their words like swords,
aiming bitter speech like arrows,
to strike the innocent without warning,
to attack without fear or shame.

They encourage one another in wrongdoing,
boasting, "Who will see? Who will stop us?"

They devise deep schemes within their hearts,
convinced that none will know.

But God sees all, and He will respond;
His justice is swifter than their arrows.

Their own words will turn against them,
and all who see it will stand in awe.

Then all people will proclaim the works of God
and ponder what He has done.

The faithful will rejoice in the Lord
and take refuge in His love,
and the upright in heart will praise Him.
