Vindicate me, O God, and lead me in Your truth!

Defend me against those who twist justice,
against the deceitful and unjust.

You are my refuge, my guiding light—
why should I feel lost in the shadows?

Why should sorrow press upon my soul?

Send forth Your light and truth;
let them guide me to Your holy presence,
to the place where I find joy in You.

Then I will come before You with songs of praise,
lifting my heart in thanksgiving to my God, my delight.

Why, O my soul, are you weighed down?

Why do you tremble with doubt?

Hope in God! For I will yet sing His praises,
my Savior, my everlasting peace.
