Psalms of David - Modern Translation - Psalm 89

I will sing of the Lord’s unfailing love forever,
proclaiming His faithfulness through all time.

With every breath, I will declare:
Your steadfast love stands firm,
Your faithfulness is unshaken.

You made a covenant with Your servant, David,
a promise that will never be undone.

You said, "I have established My chosen one,
his throne will endure like the heavens above."

O Lord, the skies proclaim Your wonders,
the heavens declare Your faithfulness.

For who in all creation can compare to You?
Who among the mighty is like our God?

You are clothed in majesty and strength,
ruling with love and wisdom.

The seas rise and roar,
but You calm their waves with a word.

The heavens are Yours, the earth belongs to You,
the world and all within it are the work of Your hands.

Blessed are those who walk in Your light,
who rejoice in Your presence each day.

For You are their glory and strength,
their shield and protector.

You spoke in love to Your servant, saying:
"I have anointed My chosen one,
My hand will uphold him forever."

But now, O Lord, I cry out to You—
why does trouble press so hard against us?

Have You forgotten Your promises, O God?
Will Your love be hidden forever?

Remember how fleeting life is, O Lord,
how quickly our days pass away.

Yet still, You are the God of faithfulness,
Your love will never fail.

Blessed be the Lord forever!
