The Book of Enoch: The Seers - Chapter 23

1.         Then I went to another place -

a pinnacle with hard rock.

2.         There I found four caves

which were smooth, deep and wide.

Why were they so smooth

in their depths and darkness?

3.         The holy angel Raphael answered me:

He said those deep caves

were created for the purpose

of keeping the materialistic souls

to remain there.

4.         Indeed the souls of the humans

will remain in this place

as they address their reconciliation

until their allotted time

before their ultimate reconciliation.

5.         I saw the soul of a person

who had passed away

as he made his case to heaven.

6.         Then I asked the holy angel Raphael

about the soul making his case:

What voice was he making

this case to heaven with?

7.         He responded to me and said

this soul came forth from Abel

after being murdered by his brother Cain.

He is pressing the case against him

until his family is removed

from the surface of the earth

and taken away

from the race of humans.

8.         Then I asked about this

and about all the cavernous places:

Why are they separated?

9.         Then he replied to me saying

that these three souls

could also be separated.

This separation is also made

for the souls of the righteous

for which clear water springs flow.

10.       This has been set up

for the wicked who pass away

and their bodies buried in the earth

before their lives have been

reconciled during their lifetimes.

11.       Here their souls are separated

within this remorsefulness

until their time of reconciliation

and consequences for their acts.

12.       They will have consequences

throughout their lives.

This separates those souls

who have decided on their own

and understood the consequences

as they were harmed by the wicked

during those times.

13.       This was done for those souls

who were not righteous but wicked

who fulfilled their transgressions

and accompanied other transgressors.

Yet their souls will never die

neither on the day of reconciliation

nor when they rise above.

14.       Then I worshipped the Almighty:

Glory to my Lord

the Lord of righteousness

Who rules for eternity.
