Psalms of David - Modern Translation - Psalm 58

Do you speak what is right, O leaders?

Do you judge with honesty, O people?

Yet within, hearts twist the truth,
and hands deal in harm instead of justice.

From the beginning, some turn from wisdom,
closing their ears to the voice of truth,
like a serpent that refuses to hear
the song of the charmer’s flute.

O God, let false words fall away,
let deceitful power crumble to dust.
May those who build on harm
find their foundations washed away.

Let those who love Your ways rejoice,
for You see all things rightly.

You lift up the faithful,
and Your presence is a shield to those who trust in You.

Surely, there is a reward for those who walk in truth.

Surely, God’s justice shines like the morning sun.
