Be merciful to me, O God,
for many rise against me;
each day they press in,
seeking to bring me harm.
When fear grips my heart,
I will trust in You.
In Your word, I find my strength;
in Your promises, my soul finds rest.
What can mere mortals do to me?
They twist my words, they plot in secret,
they watch my steps, waiting for my fall.
But You, O Lord, see all things;
You gather my tears in Your hands,
You write my sorrow in Your book.
My enemies retreat when I call upon You,
for You are with me.
In You, I place my trust—
I will not be afraid.
I will offer my praise with a grateful heart,
for You have lifted me from the depths.
You have kept my feet from stumbling,
so I may walk before You in the light of life.
