Psalms of David - Modern Translation - Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
a constant help in times of trouble.

So we will not fear, even if the earth trembles,
even if mountains fall into the depths of the sea.

Let the waters roar and foam,
let the hills shake with their crashing waves—
still, God is with us.

There is a river whose streams bring joy,
flowing through the city of God,
where the Most High dwells in peace.

God is within her—she will not fall;
at the break of dawn, He will come to her aid.

Though nations stir and kingdoms rise and fall,
God speaks, and the earth is stilled.

The Lord of all is with us;
the God of Jacob is our shelter.

Come and see what God has done,
how He calms the storms,
how He melts away strife and fear.

He whispers, “Be still, and know that I am God.

I will be honored among the people,
my light will shine throughout all time.”

The Lord of all is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.
