How lovely is Your dwelling place,
O Lord of all!
My soul longs, yes, even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh sing for joy
to the living God.
Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow builds her nest,
where she may lay her young
near Your altar, O Lord of all,
my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in Your presence,
forever singing Your praise.
Blessed are those whose strength is in You,
whose hearts are set on Your path.
As they pass through the dry valley,
they make it a place of springs;
the rain covers it with pools of blessing.
They go from strength to strength,
until they stand before You in glory.
O Lord God, hear my prayer;
listen, O God of Jacob.
Look upon Your beloved ones,
and shine Your favor upon us.
Better is one day in Your presence
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather stand at the threshold of Your house
than dwell in places of emptiness.
For the Lord is a sun and a shield;
He bestows grace and glory.
No good thing does He withhold
from those who walk in trust.
O Lord of all,
blessed is the one who trusts in You!
