Lord, remember David
and all the hardships he endured.
He swore an oath to the Lord,
made a promise to the Mighty One of Jacob:
"I will not enter my house
or rest in my bed,
I will not let my eyes sleep
nor close my eyelids in slumber,
until I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
We heard of the Ark in Ephrathah,
we found it in the fields of Jaar.
"Let us go to His dwelling place,
let us worship at His footstool."
Arise, O Lord, and come to Your resting place,
You and the Ark of Your strength.
May Your priests be clothed with righteousness,
and may Your faithful ones sing for joy.
For the sake of Your servant David,
do not turn away from Your anointed one.
The Lord made a promise to David,
a sure oath He will not revoke:
"I will set one of your descendants
upon your throne.
If your children keep My covenant,
and the laws I teach them,
then their children, too,
will sit on your throne forever."
For the Lord has chosen Zion,
He has desired it for His dwelling, saying:
"This is My resting place forever;
here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
I will bless her abundantly with provision;
I will satisfy the poor with bread.
I will clothe her priests with salvation,
and her faithful ones will rejoice in song.
There I will make a horn sprout for David;
I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one.
I will clothe his enemies with shame,
but his crown will shine brightly."
